Soft Sequences
Proposal for a conscious domestication of Littau, Luzern, Switzerland
Clearings, vegetated masses, meadows, wetlands and drylands intertwine with squares, platforms, gardens and planes. In the same way, apartment buildings, townhouses and multi-family houses mix with mobility hubs, commercial spaces, workshops, office spaces and service buildings. The multitude of conditions and programmes come together in infinite sequences tied by programmed grounds and light structures dedicated to active and passive leisure: playgrounds, sport fields, gardens and equipped areas.
In the process of defining a new neighbourhood, spatial, typological and programmatic choices inequivocally shape the community that will inhabit it. In this framework we believe that focusing on enhancing the crucial role of active leisure in daily life is fundamental. In Littauerboden this means building upon an already rich palimpsest of sport facilities sprawled in the surroundings.
In this scenario, the paths and the visual connections become fundamental aspects through which the community experiences the commons and expresses care for shared and individual spaces.
